Adjusting Squelch on a Marine VHF Radio

Here are some simple instructions on how to adjust the squelch on your marine VHF radio.

1. Turn your VHF radio on.
2. Turn squelch all the way down [towards 1] until you hear static noise [make sure volume is up first]
3. Turn squelch back up until the point static noise stops then leave at this setting [normally 2-3]

Please note that having squelch 'open' i.e. towards 10 - you will lose signal and useful radio transmissions that you need to hear.
