ICOM’s IC-7300 SDR HF Transceiver Now Available in the UK
The eagerly awaited ICOM IC-7300 software-defined HF radio transceiver is now available for sale from authorised ICOM Amateur radio dealers in the UK. Good news is that the first consignment of radios has been directly shipped from Japan, weeks before their expected availability.
ICOM's new IC-7300 uses technology normally seen in software defined radios. RF signals are mostly processed through the FPGA (Field-Programmable Gate Array), rather than by physical devices enabling high performance via the real-time spectrum scope, all in a compact, easy to use unit.
The IC-7300 also utilises a large colour TFT 4.3-inch touch screen, providing intuitive operation and features including a high-resolution waterfall function and real-time spectrum scope. These combined features assist in maximizing receive performance and allowing users to find weak signals that would not be otherwise apparent on the spectrum scope. The radio's audio scope function observes various AF functions including microphone compressor level, filter width and more.
A built-in integrated wide-frequency Automatic Antenna Tuner makes the unit ideal for field operation. The IC-7300 also provides 100 watts output power on HF/50MHz bands and 50 watts on 70MHz (European versions only). Other features include 15 discrete band-pass filters, multi-dial knob for smooth operation and an SD memory card slot for saving data are also included.
