Beans Boat trips out of Morston Harbour, North Norfolk are a long-standing user of Icom radio equipment. The company over the years has been using Icom radio to improve its operations and ultimately ensure the safety of its customers and team. Josh Bean, owner of Beans Boat Trips said, ‘My Great Grandfather Trip Bean alongside his brother Kitch Bean established the Business “Beans Boat Trips” in 1938 working out of Morston Harbour as a Ferry company. They both served in the navy during the war and then when they returned from service they picked up where they left off.’ ‘In the late ’40s my grandfather John Bean and brother Graham Bean joined in and took on the roles as skippers. The business changed in the late 70’s the local seals became protected and we adapted the trips into seal watching on Blakeney point.’ ‘Our business is now run by myself, Josh and my cousin Jason. We have five purpose-built ferries fitted and worked on by ourselves. All our families are fully involved now, still a true family run business.‘ ‘Our trips offer close up views of seals in a natural environment also an amazing experience for bird watching with large numbers of migrating sea birds. All of this in a picturesque setting of our harbour and Blakeney point.’ ‘One of the main uses of the radio is to provide a safety element on board our ferry’s while offshore. Being able to reach local coast guards and other vessels while offshore is crucial for us.‘ ‘We have 10 members of staff now all of which carry and use an Icom handheld vhf radio. We all use various models of Icom marine VHF’s.’ ‘The equipment’s central role in our work is to ensure a smooth and organised experience for our customers. Our ticket office can even communicate to our Quayside staff which then relay to our skippers and crew.’ He added, ‘We all love the Icom marine VHF radios as they are extremely easy to get to grips with. We have also noticed the durability; it really is impressive. Some of our handheld VHF have been in use now for 10+ years. They can withstand the harsh weather we are working with. ‘ 'If people would like to find out more about us, there are various ways to do this:' Website: Beans Boat Trips Website Telephone: 01263 740038 Email: Johnbeanboattrips@gmail.com26/05/2021
