Icom Inc. and Etherstack Announce Co-operation in Digital Radio Development
Icom Incorporated a market leader in radio communications worldwide and Etherstack Ltd, a market leader in wireless protocol stacks have announced at the International Wireless Communications Exposition and Convention, held in Las Vegas, that they have signed a long term MOU to work together on digital radio projects for various professional markets. Icom’s founder and Chairman, Tokuzo Inoue commented ‘We have worked with Etherstack for 10 years and the synergy of their software skills with our radio experience is formidable.’ Icom’s president, Tsutomu Fukui, said ‘Inside Icom, Etherstack have a 100% delivery record and we have long term plans to exploit this very strong team work to our mutual benefit throughout the Digital radio arena.’ Etherstack’s founder and CEO David Deacon commented 'We have the highest respect for the quality of engineering inside Icom and have enjoyed our open team relationship. We plan to help Icom move to a new level in Digital radio and become an even stronger player in many areas of this key market sector. It is inspirational to work with Mr. Inoue, Mr. Fukui and their team.’ Icom and Etherstack have already signed a contract for a substantial new project, and both companies engineers are working together to complete this project at the earliest possible time. Work is taking place at Icom's headquarters in Osaka and for Etherstack, is being led by their Yokohama office with engineering work from Etherstack's Sydney and London design centers.
