Icom Support EI25SL
On 1st May 2004, the European Union welcomed ten new countries into the Union. To celebrate this enlargement, as Ireland held the Presidency of the Union, the Irish Radio Transmitters Society (IRTS) hosted an event on the airwaves which thousands of operators from the EU and around the world took part in. As part of the enlargement celebrations ten Irish cities and towns were twinned with a particular new member state. In the case of Limerick it was twinned with Slovenia and in each of these cities and towns a Special Event Station was organised by the local radio club. The special event station for Limerick was EI25SL; Icom (UK) Ltd was pleased to loan the Limerick Radio Club an IC-756PROII for the event. Paul Kirkby EI6FE, Chairman of the Limerick Radio Club said, 'We were really privileged to welcome the Prime Minister of Slovenia, Mr Anton Rop, to the station and he was able to exchange greetings with S51DI using the IC-756PROII. The station worked very well. We made approximately 1,500 contacts us. We thank Icom for all their support.' Icom UK Marketing - marketing@icomuk.co.uk25/05/2004
