Icom LTE Handsets In Action: Read Our Latest Case Studies

Our two latest Case Studies both feature the use of IP503H LTE handsets for very different sporting events. The first article features communications equipment supplier Marathon Communications, who supported two high-profile triathlons in June of this year. The second article follows communications equipment supplier Talking Headsets, who managed comms for the 2025 World English Sporting Clay Championships in July. Both events faced unique communication obstacles that were overcome with the help of Icom LTE handsets.

From the scenic South Coast in Eastbourne to the iconic setting of the Windsor Triathlon, reliable communication was essential to keep the races running smoothly, which is why Icom LTE radio handsets were used for both triathlons separately. The wide area coverage of the LTE radios meant that both courses were covered in their entirety – a vast improvement from the previous year, when back-to-back PMR radios resulted in poor coverage.

Safety is a top priority in any clay pigeon shooting event, where loud gunshots and live ammunition are all part of the experience. For the 2025 World English Sporting Clay Championships, Icom IP503H handsets were paired with SWATCOM ear defenders to provide hearing protection with crystal-clear communication. The communication solution was tailored to the event and worked seamlessly, even with the vast, hilly terrain of the shooting ground.
