Lukasz Berejowski: A Passionate Icom Advocate from Poland
For Lukasz Berejowski, Amateur radio isn't just a hobby – it's a window to the world. This Polish ham operator, with a callsign SP1B, has been a devoted enthusiast for 25 years and his passion extends far beyond the airwaves. He's a vocal advocate for Icom radios using them exclusively across his impressive collection and even incorporating them into his maritime communication training courses. A Lifelong Love of RadioLukasz's journey with radio began in his teenage years with CB radios. This early spark ignited a lifelong fascination with communication technology leading him to obtain his Amateur radio licence. Today, he's a seasoned operator, particularly active on the 28 MHz band, where he enjoys SSB and FM communication. His dedication even led him to the incredible feat of achieving a QSO (contact) with the crew of the International Space Station! Sharing the Passion: From Ham Radio to Maritime Safety
Lukasz's love for radio goes beyond his own enjoyment. He actively shares his knowledge and experiences on social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook and YouTube (SP1B channel). This dedication extends to the next generation inspiring young people to explore the world of Amateur radio. His passion also doesn't stop on land. Recognizing the vital importance of reliable communication at sea, Lukasz has embarked on a new mission: ensuring the safety of sailors. For the past year and a half, he's been conducting SRC (Short Range Certificate) VHF Marine training courses . Interestingly, he exclusively uses Icom's IC-M330GE radios for these sessions praising their user-friendliness and suitability for students who are new to marine communication. I have very positive feedback from all students. Reliable safety communication is the key to survival in the event of an accident on the water. I teach communication procedures and how to use the radio, which is crucial in the event of a life-threatening situation. I only do small groups so everyone can practice everything. I am the only one in Poland who demonstrates the full DISTRESS / MAYDAY procedure, including the opposite station's DSC response to a distress call. Why Icom? A Love for Quality and Simplicity
Lukasz's unwavering loyalty to Icom is evident. He considers them the "gold standard" and his collection boasts a range of Icom equipment, including: Amateur Radio: IC-7610, IC-9700, IC-705, ID-52, IC-T81E Marine Radio: IC-M94D, IC-M35, IC-M330GE, IC-M423 His praise for Icom focuses on several key aspects: • Unmatched Quality: He believes Icom radios are built to last, offering exceptional performance and reliability. • Intuitive Design: He appreciates the user-friendly menus, making them perfect for beginners and experienced operators alike. • Timeless Design: The sleek and sophisticated design of Icom radios resonates with his taste.
