Government contract awarded to Forth Area Marine Electronics
Icom (UK) Ltd dealer, Forth Area Marine Electronics has just won a contract to supply the Scottish Fisheries Protection Agency with 50 IC-M1EuroV marine VHF handportable radio transceivers. The contract included the supply of waterproof microphones and cases. The equipment will be used mainly for ship-board communications and during boarding operations both at sea and in port. The Scottish Fisheries Protection Agency (formed in 1991) is a government enforcement agency whose mission is to detect breaches of UK, EU and International fisheries laws within the 127,000 square miles of sea area around Scotland. It operates four offshore patrol vessels, two inshore launches and two surveillance aircraft. Its shore based Sea Fisheries Inspectorate also operate around 18 ports in Scotland. The Agency's main task is to enforce fisheries legislation and regulations in order to conserve fish stocks for the benefit of the fishing industry in Scotland.
