Radio Spectrum may be hard to find for some Business Radio Users. Check out Icom’s Answer…IP Advanced Radio System!
In some parts of the UK, it is becoming difficult to get a radio licence due to the lack of available spectrum for business applications. In fact, you would find it nearly impossible to get a licence for a UHF2 radio scheme in London; it’s simply not there anymore. With two way radio communication being such an important asset in achieving business efficiencies an alternative is needed and we think we have the solution! Icom’s IP Advanced Radio System is a viable alternative to traditional analogue/digital two way radio systems. Being fully duplex and having the ability to be put into a building on an existing WI-Fi network there are strong reasons for businesses to consider this technology. The IP Radio system can be used like a normal/selcal radio system with individual and group calling. The controller has the technology to group calls and for putting individual calls through and all of this is done by giving each individual handportable a personality on the system. It’s a direct replacement to radio systems with additional capacity, but using different technology. The cost implications against traditional analogue and digital technology are huge and could offer large savings. In terms of installation, the system can be so much simpler. To put communications in a building you would traditionally use a distributed antenna system maybe including a lift shaft to get full coverage in a building. Now with the Icom IP Advanced Radio System, the process is much simpler, as it uses wireless access points around the building. The scope of this new technology is wide and there are strong reasons for the radio industry to move towards this new technology including no licence fee, encrypted communication, excellent audio quality and full duplex communications and lower infrastructure costs. Initial enquiries and field tests have come from a variety of sources such as mines, sports stadiums and skyscrapers. The diversity of the IP system is virtually limitless!
