SM Group Top 25 Years

Long established, Plymouth based company, SM Group Europe (SMG) have been the UK Marine Distributor for Icom UK for over a quarter of a century.

Chris Northmore, Founder of SMG, said, “We are very proud to be the Marine Distributor for Icom UK. We have always seen Icom as a premium, quality product and are pleased to be associated with it. The past 25 years have seen many changes but our relationship with Icom has been constant”.

He continued, “All SMG customers can expect an excellent level of service from us. The Sales Team and Engineers have been trained in all aspects of Icom equipment. We are always happy to help our customers whether it be a simple product specific enquiry or request for in depth technical advice. The company ethos is straight forward, quite simply we believe the customer is the most important part of our business".

Looking to the start of the new season Chris said, “This year we are looking to grow our business by 15% and once again Icom’s line up will help us achieve this. I am sure we can look forward to another record breaking season with Icom with sales above our previous expectations”.

He went on to say, “Icom’s new buoyant IC-M33 will open up a lot of new sales opportunities. People often worry about knocking or dropping their radio overboard and losing it forever, with the IC-M33 they can simply pick it out of the water”.

As Icom’s marine distributor, SMG has a lot of contact with the Icom team, “It is a pleasure to work with Icom UK”, says Chris. “I’ve personally known many of the team for years and we all get on really well. All the staff are very helpful and we have a strong relationship. Being so close to Icom enables us to provide our dealers with many benefits such as faster delivery times, better product knowledge, sales literature and of course, great after sales service.
