Special Event Station GB5BOO
The Southport & District Amateur Radio Club (SADARC) will be running Special Event Station GB5BOO in celebration of the second running of the annual "Best of Ormskirk" Festival and in aid of the charity MapAction. Held on the 30th of May at Coronation Park, Ormskirk in Lancashire, the aims of the station are promoting Amateur Radio, raising money for charity, raising the profile of Ormskirk and encouraging visitors to the town. Family entertainment During the event the Southport & District Amateur Radio Club will be hosting a raffle, with prizes including a free web site donated by local web designers dynanti and Icom merchandise. All monies raised will be presented to MapAction, a charity that rushes to the scene of major disasters around the world, maps the area using the latest GPS and satellite technologies and presents the maps, free of charge, to relief and aid agencies working in the region.
