What is PoC?
PoC stands for Push-to-talk over Cellular. We also refer to it as LTE radio or collectively as an LTE/PoC radio system. PoC is a modern two-way radio system that uses a cellular data network for instant communication. This technology combines the instant, one-to-many communication of a traditional two-way radio with the extended, nationwide coverage of a mobile phone. The main advantages of a PoC radio system are: Nationwide Coverage:Communicate instantly and reliably anywhere you have a cellular signal, without the range limitations of traditional radio. No Radio Licence Required:
Operate without the hassle of applying for and maintaining a specific radio frequency license. Advanced Features:
Benefit from a suite of smart features including GPS tracking for fleet management, instant group calls, individual private calls, and emergency alerts. Icom Simultaneous TalkListen:
Unlike traditional radios, PoC offers full-duplex communication, allowing you to talk and listen at the same time, much like a telephone call. Find out more about this here: Video: 'What is Icom Simultaneous TalkListen?'. Out-of-the-Box Use:
PoC radios are ready to use with minimal setup, making deployment quick and easy. Over-the-Air Programming (OTAP):
Radios can be remotely reconfigured from a central location, saving time and effort as there is no need to physically return them for programming. Enhanced Health & Safety:
When used with our web-based RMS-IP dispatcher, PoC radios provide critical safety features like Panic Alarm, Man Down and Lone Worker functions. For more details about our range of professional PoC radio systems, visit our dedicated: LTE/ PoC Radio Page. 08/01/2026
