Icom Incorporated Form Strategic Technical Alliance with Kenwood Corporation
Radio manufacturers Icom Incorporated and Kenwood Corporation announced on February 25, 2005, a joint business and technology alliance to develop state-of-the-art digital communications technology for the commercial market place. The alliance is purely a technical one and both companies have committed to work together to carry out Research and Development for the benefit of business and industry users, as well as developing solutions for existing system operators to enable migration to efficient digital systems. Both Icom and Kenwood will still remain as competitors. Ian Lockyer, Marketing Manager of Icom (UK) Ltd said, ‘This strategic alliance will mean that the models that Icom (UK) Ltd will eventually bring into the market place will present customers with a migration route to digital technology. Consumers are coming to expect voice-and-data capabilities in their wireless communications devices.
