Icom Two Way Radio Assists School in Greenpower Challenge

Over the past decade, Chatham & Clarendon, previously known as Chatham House, a grammar school in Ramsgate, Kent has been competing in the Greenpower Challenge, a unique hands-on projects to design, build and race an eco-friendly electric car. Icom UK have supported the school throughout the decade with Icom two way VHF radios and headset accessories, which were used by the driver to communicate with the pit team and team manager.

Team leader Lester Edmeades, Chatham and Clarendon school’s Physics teacher said, ‘During a race there are two entities to a team; the driver in the car and the pit crew. It is of paramount importance that both are connected and are able to communicate at all times. The Icom two way radios allow our team to work at an optimum level throughout the race, by reporting any changes in strategy to the driver and the driver relaying information about the cars performance to the pit crew.’

He added, ‘We are very grateful for the continued support of Icom UK.’
