Icom UK Introduce New Compact IC-F1100D/F2100D Two Way Digital Radio Series

Icom UK is launching the IC-F1100D/F2100D series, a compact portable digital radio series with convenient features, intelligent emergency functions and loud audio all housed in a slim, rugged waterproof & dustproof chassis. This radio with all its features is ideal for a wide range of businesses such as the construction industry, manufacturing, education, hospitality, retail, and facility management sectors.

Available in both VHF (IC-F1100D) and UHF (IC-F2100D), Icom's new handheld series can be programmed for Type-D single-site trunking, multi-site conventional over an IP network, conventional digital and analogue communications. There are three different versions of both VHF and UHF radios to suit different customer requirements. They are:

No display – IC-F1100D (VHF)/IC-F2100D (UHF)
Display with four keys – IC-F1100DS (VHF)/IC-F2100DS (UHF)
Display with full keypad – IC-F1100DT (VHF)/IC-F2100DT (UHF)

The radios are all rated IP67 for waterproof and dustproof protection. The radio's slim casing can withstand submersion in one metre of water for 30 minutes and also prevents the ingress of powder dust, sand, mud and other debris. The radios also incorporate an AquaQuake function which dispels water by emitting a vibrating buzz sound. The supplied waterproof battery pack (BP-280) provides 18 hours of typical operating time*…more than enough for shift work. Like all Icom radios, the IC-F1100D/F2100D series meets stringent MIL-STD 810 military specifications.

One of the most impressive features of this new model is its digitally enhanced audio quality and level. A newly developed speaker and improved acoustic design provide an impressive 1500mW of loud volume audio making it ideal for noisy environments or environments where you want to get your message across.

If health and safety is top of your agenda, then these new radio feature several practical emergency options to help keep your staff safe. The IC-F1100D/F2100D series has a built-in motion sensor which can detect states of motion/non-motion and can send an emergency signal accordingly. Additionally, the IC-F1100D series also includes programmable "man down" and "lone worker" emergency functions. An alert is sent to fellow workers or base when the radio is left in a horizontal position or not operated for an extended period.

As an added convenience, the radio's channel announcement function reports the selected channel by rotating the channel knob. This allows users to make radio adjustments without having to look at the radio. To ensure secure conversation, the series has a built-in inversion voice scrambler with up to 16 selectable codes.

Ian Lockyer, Icom UK’s Marketing Manager, said, ‘The IC-F1100D/F2100D series is an impressive series of radios. It's IP67 rating for dust and waterproofing, built-in voice scrambler and impressive audio make it unlike anything else in the market for this tier of radio. The models are impressively lightweight, so you truly have a handportable radio that users are going to be comfortable using. You are getting value for money with Icom’s new IC-F1100D/F2100D series.’
