Just how strong is the new Icom IC-M400BB 'black box' marine transceiver?

The IC-M400BB is a new 'black box' marine transceiver that gives the benefits of a full fixed VHF/DSC to boat owners who might not normally have the space to fit one. The concept is simple, by using the Icom HM-195 Commandmic you can control all the features of the IC-M400BB including DSC, radio, foghorn and hailer horn.

The IC-M400BB is the first Icom marine radio to use a lightweight yet incredibly strong polycarbonate material for its outer case. The weight of polycarbonate is just 1/3 of that of acrylic, and 1/6 of the equivalent in glass. This material is successfully used in Icom’s two way business radio range which has a proven reputation for strength and durability
