LIBS 2001- Icom Radio Amateur Day
Icom (UK) Ltd has announced that it will be holding a Radio Amateur Day at the forty-seventh London International Boat Show 2001 on Monday 8th January 2001 between 10am and 8pm. The move is being organised in response to the high level of interest and visits that Icom receive every year from its Radio Amateur customers at the boat show. As well as displaying a wide range of Icom radio communication equipment the company will have several product specialists on hand to answer questions about Icom products The London International Boat Show is the most prestigious boat show in the UK. Icom (UK) Ltd have a long history of exhibiting at the show. This year Icom will have a very dynamic, yet functional, stand dedicated to its marine product range. Particular emphasis for the company will be on the subject of Digital Selective Calling (DSC) and the safety enhancements that DSC can give. The company will be dedicating a major part of their stand to its DSC products with exhibition staff on hand to answer any questions. Ian Lockyer, Marketing Executive at Icom (UK) Ltd said, " Only by seeing DSC controllers in action will people be convinced how easy and useful DSC really is to use. That’s why we have obtained RA special permission to have our DSC equipment communicating with each other on the stand." Ian Lockyer said, "although this is a Marine show it is surprising how many people we see each year who are interested in our Amateur range. In fact I do believe that there is a significant number of mariners who have a keen interest in the Amateur Hobby." He further added, "We will be displaying our full range of Amateur, Commercial and Avionics equipment including one of the first opportunities to see the IC-910H in the UK.
