8.33KHz Aviation Handheld Radios Approved for Operators of EASA Balloons, Dirigibles/Non-rigid Airships and Gliders

Following the announcement by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) in 2013 to make 8.33kHz handportables legal for airborne use in the UK (Approval Number LA301075), the CAA has extended the approval to operators of EASA Balloons, Dirigibles/Non-rigid Airships and Gliders to also use handheld 8.33kHz radios airborne.

The IC-A6E 25kHz/8.33 kHz VHF, IC-A24E 25kHz/8.33 kHz VHF with VOR, IC-A25CE 25kHz/8.33kHz VHF COM and IC-A25NE 25kHz/8.33kHz VHF NAV COM handportables are available from all authorised Icom dealers.
