Icom UK Donate VHF Radio To Ramsgate Week Race Control
Icom UK have donated an IC-M330GE compact VHF/DSC marine transceiver to Ramsgate Week Race Control. The new radio has been fitted just in time for this year’s event. Icom have supported Ramsgate Week over the years in many ways, whether it is competition prizes or sponsoring a buoy which sits off the Goodwin Sands. Known as the friendly regatta, Ramsgate Week attracts over 100 boats from the UK and the continent and communication throughout the racing event is vital to the safety and co-ordination for all the boats and individuals involved. Stuart Carter, the Royal Temple Yacht Club Race Officer said, “Our racing area covers a large area of sea, from North Foreland to Deal and Pegwell Bay to the eastern edge of the Goodwin Sands. The old race hut base station would struggle to maintain coverage for this area.” He added, “Now though, thanks to the generosity of our Ramsgate Week sponsor Icom, we are the proud owners of a brand new Icom IC-M330GE VHF/DSC Compact Marine Transceiver - the latest in marine radio technology. This will allow us to be even more effective in control of class racing, both club and IRC, for the foreseeable future. Thank you Icom!” For more details about Ramsgate Week, please visit: www.ramsgateweek.com. Icom UK Marketing - marketing@icomuk.co.uk16/05/2019
