Icom Sponsor 2006 Blade Run Rally

Radio communication company, Icom UK Ltd has signed a sponsorship deal to become official communication supplier to the 2006 Blade Run Rally.

The Blade Run Rally is one of the most exciting and glamorous water borne rallies between England and France annually attracts the rich, famous and completely insane. Running from the 16th – 20th August it is four days of extreme power boating, and four nights of equally extreme partying. The powerboats range from some of the largest gin palaces imaginable to small RIBs and jetskis. The only constraint is that craft must be able to cross the channel and pass each check point along the way.

Despite the impression of non stop partying a great deal of organisation and hard work goes into the rally. The safety of the competitors is paramount and as such the organisers need to be in constant contact with the entrants, which is why Icom have supplied them with a number IC-M31 handheld VHF transceivers.

The IC-M31 is one of the most popular waterproof handhelds in the market place and features a Li-ion battery as standard giving users greater reassurance and peace of mind. It is waterproof to 1m depth for 30 minutes protection equivalent to IPX7 and is user friendly with a large LCD display and easy to use command buttons.
