Warranty and Equipment that has been subject to Over-voltage

The warranty on any equipment supplied by Icom UK Ltd does not cover over-voltage. Although the radio is often repairable the damage done by over-voltage is often unseen.

When we receive a radio for repair that has been subject to over-voltage we will inform you of our policy and you can decide if you wish the radio repaired. If you decide to have the radio repaired the warranty will be void and you will be charged for the repair and a record will be placed in our system stating the radio is no longer covered under warranty because of over-voltage.

Once a radio has been damaged by over-voltage the warranty will not be applied to any repair.

You can request a report on the condition of the radio for insurance purposes. There may be a charge for the report as this will involve an inspection of the radio.

It is important you consider the hidden damage caused to a radio that has been subject to over-voltage. If the radio is part of a safety critical system, we always recommend the radio is replaced and the damaged radio scrapped. We have the facility to safely and securely re-cycle the radio to ensure it is not re-used.

The above should also be applied to any equipment that has been subject to a surge, electrostatic discharge, lightning etc.

Most of the low-cost power supplies do not have over-voltage protection and may radiate noise on the frequency bands you wish to listen on, considerably degrading the performance of the radio. We recommend you use one of our approved power supplies. These have been specifically tested for use with our equipment and carry the same warranted against over-voltage.
