What is Intermodulation distortion?

Intermodulation distortion is audio distortion created inside the radio when strong signals from different frequencies are mixed within the radio. Like multipath, this also occurs when signals bounce off of objects in the line of path. However, unlike multipath, intermodulation distortion is created from signals of different frequencies.
