Icom UK Supports The 2026 International One Metre World Sailing Championship

We are proud to announce our support for the upcoming International One Metre (IOM) World Championship - a highly competitive class of radio-controlled model yacht racing recognized by World Sailing.

As one of the most prestigious events on the radio sailing calendar, the championship attracts competitors from across the globe and with a maxed out fleet of 84 participants, the contest promises to be an exciting display of world class racing.

The event takes place from the 15th to the 23rd of May and will be hosted at Datchet Water Sailing Club. With racing managed from land and environmental challenges such as strong winds and noise from nearby Heathrow Airport, instant communication will be needed to keep the event running smoothly.

To support the event, Icom UK will be providing IP503H radios for use by race officials, support teams and event coordinators. Providing the handsets will ensure clearly and effective communication, safeguarding both the fairness of competition and the safety of the participants.

Spectators can watch the race free of charge whilst enjoying the facilities at Datchet Water including a café, bar and upstairs lounge offering spectacular views over the reservoir. For those cannot attend in person, the organizers plan to broadcast the event via YouTube, with a goal of providing live, high-quality coverage.
