The 2026 Bass Boat & Fishing Competition: A Winning Catch for HBAA and Icom UK!

We’re still reeling from a fantastic weekend at the 37th National Open Bass Festival!

The competition was a huge success and the glorious weather provided ideal conditions for a weekend of competitive fishing.

With Icom prizes awarded for the top 3 and two junior anglers making the top eleven in the boat division - the competition was full of great sportsmanship, community pride and young talent.

Jamie Quinlan took victory in the boat category with a 7.77 lb catch, while Richard Bachuss’s 4.09 lb fish put him first in the beach category.

Our Marine Radio specialist Virgil Parker joined event organiser Les Bates at the award ceremony to present the prizes on behalf of Icom UK.

Les Bates said, "We're incredibly grateful to Icom UK for their continued sponsorship of Bass Festival and this year, we were delighted to see more competition entries from anglers who had not taken part before. The brilliant weather certainly helped and we hope to continue the success next year."
