Icom Announces the SM-J1 Premium Dual-Element Desktop Microphone

We are excited to share product details for the new SM-J1 Premium Dual-Element Desktop Microphone.

First previewed at Dayton Hamvention, the SM-J1 is a premium desktop microphone designed for operators who demand uncompromising transmit audio. Developed as part of a special joint initiative by JAIA member manufacturers, it features dual microphone elements, tailored frequency response controls and built-in cross-brand compatibility.

Built with Icom’s signature quality, the SM-J1 is the perfect partner for Icom base stations, including the IC-7760, IC-7610, IC-7300 series, IC-718 and IC-9700.

Designed for Peak Audio Performance

• Dual Dynamic Elements: Delivers rich, clear transmit audio while minimising low-frequency air pressure, allowing natural speech without breath pops or plosives.

• Dual Polar Patterns: Easily switch between Unidirectional Mode (filters out background shack noise like fans and power supplies) and Omnidirectional Mode (delivers a consistent frequency response regardless of mic distance for DX contacts and pileups).

• Boom Arm Integration: Easily detaches from its desktop stand to mount on standard 5/8-inch boom arms, eliminating desk vibration feedback.

• Hands-Free PTT: Includes a rear footswitch connector, freeing up your hands for rapid logging, Search & Pounce and contest operation.
