Expanding the D-STAR Network...Come and Talk to Us!
For over fifteen years, Icom UK has invested in the D-STAR network allowing users to enjoy the digital side of Amateur Radio, D-STAR (Digital Smart Technologies for Amateur Radio). D-STAR has introduced operators to a different side of the hobby and provided a bit of self-learning and fun in digitally contacting as well as listening to other operators across the globe. D-STAR remains very popular in connecting Amateur radio operators in the UK to others worldwide, providing high-quality audio as well as other features including short data messaging, GPS position reporting, picture transference etc. As part of Icom’s commitment, all the latest Icom Amateur radios and receivers have D-STAR capability built in from handportable radios such as the ID-52E Dualbander or the portable HF/VHF/UHF IC-705 to the IC-9700 VHF/UHF/1200 MHz base station transceiver….as well as our forthcoming IC-905 SHF/VHF/UHF All Mode Transceiver. Although there are other ways of getting onto the D-STAR network, such as DVAPs and dongles, we are still looking to expand D-STAR repeater coverage. In some areas, there may be no D-STAR repeater coverage which can pose a challenge for some operators relying on this technology. As we will quickly come to the end of two decades of D-STAR being in the UK, we constantly look at and support new sites throughout the UK and Southern Ireland by supplying our range of D-STAR repeaters. If you are a club, group or motivated private individual without a local repeater and are interested in providing the D-STAR network to your local area, you can get in touch, and we will see how we can help. You can do this by emailing our team at the email address below. Icom UK Sales - sales@icomuk.co.uk28/04/2023
