Icom Supports UK Kayak Challenge

Icom Supports UK Kayak Challenge

Icom UK is pleased to be sponsoring Noel Webb in his attempt to kayak around the coast of the UK alone. Noel is carrying out this challenge to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

The challenge is expected to take approximately 120 days with Noel averaging 36km a day, depending on the weather, tides and sea conditions.

Space is limited onboard his 17ft Fibreglass Explorer kayak and only essential equipment will be taken. Noel said “Safety equipment is a big priority, I need to be prepared for all situations. As part of this preparation a reliable handheld radio is essential.”

He went on to say “Icom’s long standing reputation for reliability and quality meant that they where the only real contender for supplying such an important item! When you’re less than a meter above the water you have a very short horizon so the extra output power of the IC-M71 handheld really comes in handy? As does the high waterproofing as everything onboard is bound to get at least one splashing!”

Ian Lockyer, Icom Marketing Manager said “The IC-M71 is the ideal VHF for the kayaking market and will stand Noel in good stead. We are very pleased to be sponsoring Neil. This is such a worthy venture and we wish well for this huge challenge”.

Noel is hoping to raise £10,000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust. Too help him reach this target or for more information on the Challenge or the Cystic Fibrosis Trust visit Noel’s website: www.cfpaddler.co.uk
