When I attempt to record for extended periods, my IC-R8600 radio receiver does not save one file, it appears to save the recordings in several files. Why does it do that?

The IC-R8600 saves recording files in folders with a maximum capacity of 2GB. When a folder fills, it creates a new folder with the same capacity.
