Radio Stun, Kill and Revive on a Two-Way Radio Explained

Radio Stun, Kill and Revive on a Two-Way Radio Explained

Icom two-way radios have three important functions called stun, kill, and revive incorporated into them. These features are used in situations where the radio has either been mislaid or stolen. The functions are important because of the potential danger that mislaid/stolen radios can cause on your radio system.

• Stun/Kill allows a radio to be disabled over air.
• Revive restores the disabled radio to full use.

The Stun/Kill process can be activated by your own radio engineer or radio system supplier. It will disable the radio from the system remotely, making them unusable so that they will not be able to receive or transmit. If the radio is retrieved, it can be enabled again by sending a revive signal from another device/or reprogrammed again if the radio is killed, reactivating its functions.
